Sopore, Aug 17 (KNO): The Municipal Council Sopore on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the line departments including R&B, Jal Shakhti, PDD accusing them of not utilizing developmental funds and lack of coordination. The protest led by the Municipal head, Musarat Kar along with the councilors was staged in the premises of Additional Deputy Commissioner's office in Sopore. She told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the claims of the government's three-tier setup are seen nowhere in Sopore as the executing agencies Roads and Buildings (R&B), Jal Shakhti or Power Development Department are not cooperating with them. Musarat held the authorities responsible for lapsing developmental funds and said that slow pace of work by the executing agencies is causing inconvenience to people. “Not a single project was inaugurated besides not a single foundation stone was laid on Independence Day despite clear directions from the chief secretary,” she said. According to her, Rs 5.5 crores were lapsed last year. “This is public money but lack of accountability is affecting developmental works. We met Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, S A Raina and raised our genuine issues with him. He gave us assurance. We will hit the roads if things don’t change,” said the president. Meanwhile, the ADC Sopore called a meeting with all the executing agencies who were asked to cooperate with the Municipal Council Sopore besides speed up the work to make Sopore a better town—(KNO)
